Geiko
This art project that explores the raw intersection of sensuality, life, and death. inspired by the erotic traditions of Japanese culture. Drawing influence from renowned photographer Nobuyoshi Araki, known for his provocative explorations of eroticism, nature and the death instinct, I capture flowers that evoke both subtle and intense expressions. Using biological materials like saliva, blood, and other natural pigments, I enhance the emotional depth of each flower. Through this project, I explore primal human instincts, creating a visceral, intimate reflection on our innate desires and mortality.
In Japanese culture, a Geiko (often referred to as a Geisha in the West) is a traditional female entertainer skilled in the arts of music, dance, and conversation. They are highly trained in the cultural practices of tea ceremonies, poetry, and other aspects of Japanese etiquette, offering an air of elegance, grace, and sophistication in their interactions.
